Tenby Holidays

Take a walk through Tenby’s picturesque winding streets and you’ll quickly realise you’ve landed in foodie heaven. There are dozens of cafes and restaurants to choose from, offering traditional Welsh dishes such as cawl (lamb and vegetable soup), vegan cuisine, amazing Sunday roasts and everything in between.

Seafood is a speciality, with freshly caught local fish and shellfish available most months of the year. Artisan delis, butchers and grocers mean there’s also plenty of choice for home cooking in the Chart House kitchen!

Here we’ve picked just a handful of personal recommendations based on our recent eating-out and shopping experiences in Tenby. No doubt you’ll find your own favourites when you visit the town – let us know on our Instagram or Facebook pages @charthouse.tenby.

1. Loafley

A small shop that packs a massive punch. Loafley is a bakery and deli tucked away on Upper Frog Street, just a couple of minutes’ walk from Chart House. They sell amazing cakes, breads, salads and pastries, and everything is homemade in the Loafley kitchen without additives or preservatives. There’s also a fabulous deli section selling local jams, chutneys, honey etc, as well as interesting foodie treats from around the world.

2. Will’s Restaurant

Recently refurbished, Will’s on Tenby High Street offers a really warm welcome. Open most days for breakfast, lunch and dinner, the menu is varied with decent vegetarian options on offer as well as meat and fish dishes. Try the vegetarian breakfast with grilled halloumi and hollandaise sauce – absolutely delicious!

3. The Copper Hog

This butcher and deli on the High Street sells stunning Welsh lamb and beef, St Florence free range pork and Pembrokeshire free range chicken. Honestly the best steaks we have ever tasted. In the deli section, you’ll find lots of locally sourced produce as well as the Copper Hog’s own home-made lasagne. Perfect comfort food for a cosy night in at Chart House.

4. Tenby’s Traditional Fish & Chips

It’s tricky to pick a favourite fish and chip shop as there are various great options in Tenby. However, this takeaway is just a few hundred yards from Chart House (on Trafalgar Road), so for convenience it’s hard to beat. The takeaway is popular so you may have to queue for a little while, but we promise it’s worth the wait!

5. Penally Abbey

Penally Abbey is a unique hilltop hotel just a couple of miles along the coast from Tenby. The hotel’s Rhosyn restaurant, featured in the Michelin Guide, is a gorgeous venue for a special meal or celebration. Afternoon tea in the elegant dining room overlooking the gardens and the bay beyond is an unforgettable experience. Perfectly baked scones, mouth watering sandwiches and so many sweet treats you’ll probably need a takeaway box at the end of the afternoon…
